I took CLK to Toys R Us yesterday because we needed to buy some gifts. We do not go there very often and I told her she could pick out one new toy (she doesn't NEED anything, but I have not bought her anything in a long time). This is what she choose. We walked past the Dora section and she saw this pink Dora dress and had to have it, she wore it to the park that afternoon. She has had it on pretty much non stop, besides bedtime. Best $12 I have spent in a while! Look at the joy on that face!

The train tracks run right by the farm and every time we are there CLK says I hear a train and we have to go outside and watch it pass. I finally took a few photos of "the train". Here is one.

My in laws live on a hay farm and I took these photographs while we were visiting at Thanksgiving. I have been wanting to play with them and apply some different actions. I still learn new ways to use Photoshop all the time and I have a good friend who helps - check him out here - pwphotographer! I really like the way these turned out so I thought I would share. I know I have been talking about redesigning this blog for months now, and it has changed looks about a half a dozen times, but I have been going through some learning curves. I finally think I figured out how to do some of the things I have been wanting to do and now it is just about making the right image for the header and finding all the right colors, so for one last time I will say this blog will look different (again) soon and hopefully it will stay that way for a while. Stay tuned!

I had a great time with this family during the Thanksgiving holiday. These kids were great, (wouldn't you be if you were being bribed with M and Ms!) and so very sweet. I have known this family my whole life and it was an honor to get to photograph the grand kids in action.

We had our family photos taken for the first time by the wonderful Sara Moon. Hated being on that side of the camera and will now always be able to empathize with my clients. I am so glad we did it, to capture the memories of this time in our lives is so awesome. Thank you Sara.

My husband is watching the A &M game right now, and I think he just broke something, so stressful. What wonderful football weather! It finally feels like fall. To all my clients on the book I look forward to our upcoming shoots, I am officially booked for Holiday! Sorry for the lack of posting lately, a lot has been going on. Well, I am back. Here is a sampling of how we passed time during the Ike power outage.

Twelve long days without power, it was nice for the first couple of days. No TV, no Internet, but come on 12 days!!! I am really happy to be getting back to the life I had before Ike.

I can't write much without loosing it right now, but I lost my Grandfather yesterday. It was his time to go and I have peace with that, however my heart is very heavy. He was very much like a father to me, I am so thankful for having had him in my life.

We have been SOOOOOOO busy, sorry no post in a week. We went home for the weekend to celebrate CLK's 2nd birthday and I had 2 shoots and my husband and I attended a black tie gala! A group of Mommy friends took our little ones to eat at the Monument Inn restaurant the other day. For those who do not know the Monument Inn Restaurant is located next to the Battleship Texas State Park and San Jacinto Monument. It was CLK's first time on a boat - as the ferry took off she said "we're floating mommy".
Here she is with her friend Alex whose new fashion statement is the Rambo look.
A terrible exposure, but how cute the almost silhouette of the kiddos looking out the window of the restaurant bar at the barges going by.
After lunch - a little leg room.
I think CLK is practicing her new yoga moves here. Thanks again CA for organizing our trip! Next time we are going when it is not 100 degrees.

Seriously, this is the only book CLK wants me to read to her. Her Dear Aunt gave her Knuffle Bunny and Knuffle Bunny Too as a gift and all the sudden she is obsessed!!!! She knows the stories and practically reads them to me. I try to get her to let me read some of what I thought were our favorites and the answer is no - Knuffle Bunny! They are cute books, but I would really enjoy some variety (hopefully this too shall pass).

We are making progress! CLK woke up dry this morning. Today was much better than yesterday, however still a challenge! I wish I could have captured the look on her face when she realized she was actually peeing in the potty. It was like, I AM DOING IT!!!! Again, I will keep you posted - no poop yet. ( she really loves jelly beans, especially blue and orange)

Ok, it was a VERY hard day. I have every blanket and towel covering every inch of my carpet - CLK did not go in the potty all day - we went through 20 pairs of Elmo and Dora panties! Tip for those of you who have yet to do this - also have changes of clothes for yourself because every time I wisked her up to run her to the potty the tee tee got all over me! Also have hand towels or wash clothes in the bathroom to wipe the tee tee off their legs before you put dry panties on. Finally at 6 o'clock CLK tells me for the first time before actually doing it that she needs to go and low and behold she tee tees in the potty!!! The praise - the amens - the new you tee teed in the potty dance was born! She got jelly beans and stickers! Check on us tomorrow - tonight is no pull ups - big girl panties and pjs ( you know me - I am all or nothing).

With Edouard on his way, tomorrow we will begin our 3 day potty training. I have read the e book by Lora Jensen and am ready! We went to Target today and bought Dora and Elmo Big Girl panties and I think she is excited. So tomorrow I will not have time to check email - answer calls - or be able to leave the house, but in just 3 days CLK should be potty trained. I will let you know how it goes! Hanker down!

I read some great blogs and always think about writing more myself. Why don't I? I am just not a good writer, never have been. I am wordy and not great at grammar and terrible at spelling ( I know about spell check - use it all the time), but I don't know maybe I will start writing more.

Today my little one and I just played at home, she told me she didn't want to go to our playgroup, I think she is a homebody like her Daddy and I are. That is fine with us, we just hope she stays that way - when she is 16 she can say I don't think I want to go to that party tonight I will just stay home with Mom and Dad! Anyway, she is napping now and has been for over 2 hours - she was a little grumpy this morning, maybe those teeth (the ones I have been saying for 2 months are about to cut) are finally coming in.

It rained all night and all morning! I took these pics with a flash (yuck!) because I had to show how cute CLKs new rain boots are! We painted for a long time today. It started with brushes and ended up being finger painting 101. I think the rain has finally stopped!

Splash pad fun in the sun!!! The kids had a great time running through the water, The splash pad is in Summerwood and there is an area where the water runs off into rocks. Check out the girls playing in the rocks - little adventurers!

So, we get back from our weekend visit with a little bug bite on CLKs face (no big deal). Well, then I realize she has two on her leg, one on her arm, and one on her back. She doesn't even complain - she is fine. I think she has her Daddy's skin - he gets a bite and it swells and turns so red!
Then last night while playing in the backyard she slips on the patio and skins her chin a little - again trooper - gets right back up and plays more.
Well, this evening we played at our friends house and CLK shut her finger in the coffee table drawer!!! It is swollen red and under the nail is all purple!!!
They say things come in threes, so hopefully the next few days will be accident free.

No pictures today. Well I am sad, I haven't taken any photographs in the past few days. Maybe this evening I will. I had my first Mommy altercation at the pool today. CLK and I went down the slide and there were some boys playing at the bottom - where they should not have been - and I told them firmly they should not be there, after they slide they should move out of the way so no one gets hurt. Well, one of their mothers did not like that I - she said "yelled" at them. She went off on me!!! Wow, really lady, what kind of example are you setting for your children. Anyway, the rest of pool time was fun, I just kept giving her the evil eye!
